SUMMARY

If you are an experienced cyber security professional that is looking for an opportunity to build a robust practice from the ground up, this is the perfect opportunity with a long runway for career advancement.  The Director of Cyber Security Consulting has overall responsibility for the cost-effective enablement of, and ongoing support for, the security platforms and processes necessary to deliver customer service offerings and internal security requirements. Responsibilities include executing daily operations, development and pursuit of long-term strategic plans and tools that enable NCI’s Security Practice growth trajectory. The Director of Cyber Security is a very “hands on” position that requires up to date technical skills, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), relationship skills and team management skills. This role is a direct report to the VP of Services and member of the Security Leadership team.


The role also considers and addresses internal governance of data/information, audit, compliance, and all required policies, procedures, and standards. This role is the champion of proactive, responsible, and resilient security strategies.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Dedication to Customers

  • Leads, manages, and monitors the design, development, implementation, support, and troubleshooting of all cyber security services, engineering, and application security
  • Be the key contact of customers, senior leaders and legal groups throughout incident response processes, providing regular updates of facts of the event, responses and recommendations and next steps
  • Ensuring that all cyber security related initiatives consider the proper data, SLA’s, audit, compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives the company requires
  • Designing and driving all daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly activities that represent the bedrock of security operations for our customers and NCI
  • Building strong relationships with customers and key business partners to implement security at the core of their own development cycles, while also helping close existing holes
  • Effectively communicates cybersecurity operations maturity metrics, relevant threats and cybersecurity controls to a variety of audiences

Responsible Innovation

  • Responsible for the overall delivery of all cyber security services with experience in building a holistic security offering
  • Demonstrates deep competence in information security, cybersecurity operations and engineering
  • Consistently evaluating and recommending changes to our internal and third-party toolkit inventory
  • Developing and monitoring internal and external key security metrics
  • Contributes to the creation of information security technology strategies and roadmaps based on business strategy, IT trends and the overall threat landscape, as well as current and future architectures

Commitment to Employees

  • Directs a virtual team of cyber security engineers while coordinating work with direct managers
  • Build policy, process, procedure and training content for virtual delivery team 
  • Encouraging, coaching, mentoring and managing of virtual delivery engineers, building foundation to build a dedicated team as the practice evolves
  • Assist with the design and review of budgets and forecasts, as well as comparing to actual performance
  • Focus on growing and driving cultural health, wellness, and career development of virtual team members
  • Provides leadership to managers and experienced cybersecurity operations staff
  • Serves as a player\coach to deliver NCI security service deliverables

ROLE REQUIREMENTS 

  • 5+ Years of Leadership Experience (team lead or manager)
  • 10+ Years of IT Experience
  • 5+ Years in Cyber Security focused around security principles, practices, technologies, programs and procedures, accompanied by an understanding of risk management methodologies and frameworks
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, manage competing agendas and priorities and translate complex information across internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrated expertise in regulatory and compliance regulations, including Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in multi-platform environments. 
  • High-quality analytical skills, leadership experience, and exceptional relationship management competencies
  • Extensive experience driving and managing to metrics and leveraging process improvement to increase cybersecurity operations maturity
  • Experience building and scaling teams and leading high growth organizations
  • Certifications such as Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) preferred
